Session 34: Best Practices for Developing Instructional Control with Megan Miller, BCBA-D

In this episode of the podcast, Megan Miller reviews seven steps for earning instructional control. These include controlling access to reinforcers, pairing oneself with reinforcement, being consistent with expectations, focusing on positive rather than negative reinforcement, prioritizing oneself and the learner, and managing challenging behavior. With regard to the latter, Megan describes strategies for managing escape maintained challenging behaviors without using escape extinction.

  3. The participant will be able to describe at least one way escape extinction procedures potentially affect procedural integrity.
